Political and economic developments in the UK and Cyprus as well as across the globe, were the main focus of a working lunch hosted by the CEO of Consulco Group of Companies, Mr. Marios Hadjiroussos, in honour of His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, Mr. Chris Barton CMG.

The working lunch, which was held at Consulco’s headquarters in Nicosia, was also attended by the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Mr. Irfan Siddiq OBE, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Energy, as well as prominent Cypriot businesspeople.

Attendees had the opportunity to discuss the ways in which the British and Cypriot governments can help and support Cypriot businesses expand their operations and investments in the UK market.

The participants also exchanged views on current global developments as well as their economic and political impact on the two countries.

Mr. Chris Barton CMG, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, shared his thoughts on the event, saying: “It’s been a huge pleasure to be here with Consulco and a range of Cypriot businesses, and we’ve heard so much enthusiasm for a thriving UK-Cyprus trade and investment relationship and lots of opportunities. Our trades grew over 25% last year, and I know there’s potential to do so much more, both in terms of trade and investment, and that’s hugely welcome from the UK side.”

In statements, CEO of Consulco Group of Companies, Mr. Marios Hadjiroussos said: “We were delighted to host His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner, Mr. Chris Barton CMG and British High Commissioner, Mr. Irfan Siddiq OBE for a working lunch at our Headquarters in the presence of officials from the Ministries of Energy and Foreign Affairs as well as Cypriot businesspeople. Consulco’s initiative served as a great opportunity to discuss important issues and we believe that a significant step has been taken towards further strengthening business and investment relations between Cyprus and the UK”.
